                                    ETHIOPIA, LAND OF WAR

                                                             by Josiah, Meg and Emily

Ethiopia- This is the land of failures. This is the land of war. This is the land of hope. Ethiopia is one of the most beautiful countrys in the world but it is crying for help. Very recently Ethiopia finished with a 30  year war that resulted in over 100,000 dead people and even more injured. Ethiopia's main export is coffee, over 60,000 of Ethiopia's money come from exporting coffee. That is Ethiopia's main Economy. The population in ethiopia is 80 million with at least 9 ethnic groups.Ethiopia's culture is very great but prehaps the best part of it is that Ethiopia has over 6 different languages spoken so take that Canada. Ethiopia was never actually colonized but in 1952 Italy came and tried to take over but that relationship never really worked out. Ethiopia's government structure just got back on it's feet. It is not totally stable but it's getting there Ethiopia has about 4 religions but all of them are used alot. There are alot of ethiopian tribes at least 10 these tribes are well big. Ethiopia never technacliy became independent because they were never colonized. Ethiopia is a very poor  country with almost no healthcare because they can't afford it. Ethiopia has three climates the Dega-cool zone. Woyina  Dega- Temperate Zone and the Qola- Hot Zone.

  Greeting Customs in Ethiopia

  • Ethiopian greetings are courteous and somewhat formal.
  • The most common form of greeting is a handshake with direct eye contact.
  • The handshake is generally much lighter than in Western cultures.
  • After a close personal relationship has been established people of the same gender may kiss three times on the cheeks.
  • Across genders, men should wait to see if a woman extends her hand.
  • Greetings should never be rushed. Take time to inquire about the person’s family, health, job, etc.
  • People are addressed with their honorific title and their first name.
  • “Ato", "Woizero", and "Woizrity" are used to address a man, married woman, and unmarried woman respectively.
  • Elders should be greeted first.
  • It is customary to bow when introduced to someone who is obviously older or has a more senior position. Children will often be seen doing so.

Battle of Aduwa Day, March 2. Commemorates the defeat of the Italians in 1896, and the resulting Treaty of Addis Ababa which recognized Ethiopia's independence.

If you look at my mask you can seet that the colors on it is green, yelow, and red. It stands for the ethoipiann flag. Aslo if you look you will see the man with the wazy lines by his stomach.

that stands for the hunger in ethipia.

lastly the feathers the tope of the mask standts for all the tribes there are in my country.

I am a deprived country that struggles in giving my poeple what they need.

I wounder if my countrys water will ever be safe enough for the thrsty mouth of my people.

I hear the crasing waves of lake langan and think of how beautiful it is.

I see the wooden cross that stands for my country.

I want there to be a day were hundreds of kids and adults don't die because of hunger.

I am a deprived country that struggls in giving my poeple what they need.

I fill happy and greatful for all of the natuarl resources and animals i have.

I touch the hundreds and thousands of different birds i have in my country.

I smell the unwashed boddies of my people.

I worry i cant support most of the poeple in my country.

I cry for the families that lost there homes in war.

I am a deprived country that struggles in giving my people what they need.

I understand there are bad things that are happning around my country but i am thankful for my fedral goverment that is trying to do what ever thy can to help.

I say he we can make are country stonger and safer it just takes hard work.

I i dearm i would wake up and my country would not be in povertry.

i try to do what ever i can for my country but i need some help.

I hope there will be peace between tribes and the war would end against them.
